Energy Shield
The Energy Shield is a simple solution to a major problem in homes.

Are you heating/cooling the attic of your home?

There are three issues when considering how to eliminate heat transfer from the attic (in the summer) or from the home (in the winter).

¨ There is air leakage caused by poor fitting attic staircases.

¨ Heat, also, escapes by traveling through solid objects either escaping through the attic in the winter time or migrating into the living spaces in the summer time.

¨    Heat is radiated from the roof  into the living area the same way that heat travels from a stove to your hands when you place your hands near the burner.

Described simply, the Energy Shield attaches to the inner framework of the opening of the disappearing stairway.  It, in effect, seals off the hole in your ceiling stopping either the super-heated or super-cold air in the attic from invading the living area.

Therefore, the primary purpose of the Energy Shield is to provide an effective seal against drafts, heat/air conditioning loss, and is a simple easy-to-install system.

The Energy Shield I is capable of sealing and insulating the attic opening for the pull-down stairs with an effective R-value of 13. Imagine opening your pull-down stairs without getting a heat wave in the summer or an arctic blast in the winter into your home.

      Energy Shield I  (Patent Pending)

The Energy Shield I  is code compliant and is made with fire retardant materials. The heavy duty industrial zipper in the unit, allows the unit to be opened to the side or rear for easy access to the attic while helping to reduce trip hazards at the entrance of the attic.

Easy  to install. See our installation video on the home page.

The Energy Shield I is mounted directly to the inner frame around the attic access opening.  This superior method of installation ensures a complete air tight seal above the stairs and stair frame.

This method of installation eliminates the need to have a plywood surface built around the attic opening.  A unique feature of this type of installation virtually eliminates trip hazards.  The entrance to the attic has a low profile opening that mounts below the framing.

The Energy Shield I eliminates leaks from poorly installed stair frames that typically have wood spacers between the stairway frame and the attic access opening frame.

No more lifting the cover to access the attic space and trying to find a place to put the old cover until you are through in the attic. And when you are through lift the old cover and try to place it in the stair cover while trying climb down the ladder.

The Energy Shield I is sealed in position during installation.  There is no need to save space in your attic to store the old cover that sits on the attic floor or stair frame. Simply unzip the unit and flip the top to the side or rear.

Think how much more space you can use in your attic by eliminating that old lift out cover.

           Energy Shield I

The Energy Shield I™ unit is composed of a multi-layer foam composite with radiant barriers on each side. This design prevents energy loss from your home in three ways.

¨ First, heat is trapped in the attic during the summer to be dispensed via the attic fan instead of warming up the air in your living area.

¨ Second, during this time frame, air conditioned air inside the home is maintained by keeping it from escaping thru the pull-down stairs in the attic.

¨ Third, heat is contained inside your home during the winter, while keeping the cold air in the attic.
