Energy Shield I TM   Patent Pending

This attic access disappearing stairway has R 13 fiberglass insulation installed between the steps and is smashed in place, which degrades the R Value considerably.  The outside edges and ladder have no insulation and heat will travel through the wood and negate the insulation effect between the steps. Therefore, it is almost like having no insulation at all.

This installation will continue to be a source for air leaks.  Fiberglass insulation can not prevent radiant heat from passing through the stairway.

The Energy Shield I unit is capable of sealing the entire opening by mounting to the inner framework where the disappearing stairway frame is attached.  The unit has a low profile at the entrance opening to eliminate trip hazards when entering the attic.

The Energy Shield I is made of flexible foil foam foil materials that are environmentally safe.  The foil acts as a radiant barrier to reflect up to 97% of radiant energy.
